Intex Hose Conversion Adapters Kit for adaptions of Larger 2500 gph filter pump system to 16′ diameter or smaller Intex pool set

Initially I didn’t order the adapter set with our new pool pump because the reviews were so negative. I tried to find adapters locally but pool supply places don’t carry parts for inexpensive above ground pools. I tried to get something from our local hardware store but PVC parts wouldn’t do it. I even tried Home Depot. Nada.

So I ordered these adapters with trepidation. They went right on. I got it hooked up in minutes. I turned it on and bam. I thought I might have to go back and tighten but there were no leaks. These adapters and the valves work great.

I can’t wait to change the filter on the new pump so I can use the plunger valves. This is going to be so cool. I won’t have to use those little black hats to cover the outlets. I can shut the water off at the valve.

I don’t know why the other reviewers said such negative stuff. These work great and are very easy to hook up. They are a little heavy and pull down on the side of the pool. I may prop them up with something to help with that. But otherwise they are great.

There is a major design flaw with these adaptors. Most people use these adaptors to gain more suction with a larger pump which happen to come with 1 1/2″ hose vs a 1 1/4″ hose. The problem with the adaptors is the rubber insert is not adhered to the PVC casing. The problem comes in when the pumps greater than 2500 GPH cause suction that pulls the rubber insert away from the adaptor. When this happens the air gets sucked in from between the housing and the rubber causing air to get sucked into the pump.

i have a 13′ pool from walmart and wanted a bigger pump. i bought these connectors without reading the reviews first. when the intake gasket started collapsing, i got online and tried to find different connectors with no luck. i found one website that said if your pool came from walmart or target, you need to purchase a tube insert for the intake gasket. i just cut a 1 inch piece of 1 inch pvc and crammed it in there between the connector and the plunger valve, making sure that the lip on the gasket stayed flush with the rim. it’s working like a charm!

They do not fit on tight, and are plaqued with air leaks that will cause your pump to not operate well. I tried three different adapters thinking one just wasnt hooking on well. I could never get the problem fixed until I gave these things up and came up with my own solutions using the original hoses that come with these pools and adapting them into the new pump.

For the Quick Set Pools (the pools with the inflatable ring), the hose conversion adapter kit is a MUST. It works well with the pump system and extremly easy to install. Price is right and the delivery was as promise. I am totally satisfied with both products.

if you are getting these adapters you need the plunger valves as well to keep them from being weighted down and slipping off. the plungers also keep the gaskets in the adapters from deforming. unfortunately most of the sellers on amazon who sell the larger intex pumps take the plungers out of the box so they can sell them on the side.

once you have the plungers the adapters work as they should.

First off, I don’t know why anyone would order these adapters from any place other than Intex directly – the manufacturer. They sell them for about $2.50ea and you can get two, delivered anywhere for about $10.

Second, while they do attach nicely, they do cause the rest of the hose and attachments to stick out and pull down on the protruding 1 1/4″ black nozzle as another poster indicated.

Finally, there is a design flaw in that the black gasket, on the end of the adapter that attaches to the plunger valve, is mated to a rim rim that is hollow. You can see this by just pulling the gasket back on that edge. Once assembled everything will work fine for a while. But after a few minutes, the gasket gets sucked into the hollow rim and causes air to enter the system resulting in a “buzzing” around the adapter and significantly reduced water flow – probably not good for the pump either. The rim really should be a solid flat surface for the gasket to mate to. This is probably caused by the a pump that is designed for 1 1/2″ openings moving water through the a 1 1/4″ adapter.

I considered fixing this by filling the hollow edge with liquid resin available from a craft store. I ultimately just cut out the 1 1/4″ inflow and outflow black tube and installed the strainer/nozzle assemblies that came with the pump, ditching the adapters altogether. Everything works fine and I have an 1 1/2″ path through the whole system. An added benefit is that the assemblies now don’t pull down on the pool liner as they are closer and have much more surface area in contact with the liner.

Tried these 1 1/2 to 1 1/4 inch adapters to use the intex 633 2500 gallon per hour pump on a small pool. As another reviewer said, the gasket inside is too soft, deforms while the pump is pulling water, and obstructs the water flow. The pump nearly stops pumping water and could probably burn up if left running in that condition. Using the adapter together with the plunger valve worked for a little while but eventually did the same thing. A harder plastic gasket would alleviate this problem all together.
