It was time to replace my Intex Pool pump which had died after five years of good service. The original size was no longer available so I either had to go up or down a step in pump capacity. I chose to go up and I’m glad I did. This new pump works great and it even uses the same size filters that my old one used… so I get to use my existing stock of filters. I would buy again from this seller. Quick delivery and just as promised – new in the box!

WOW. When I bought my Intex easy-set, metal-frame 18 x 48 pool 3 years ago, it came with the 1500 gph filter pump. Needless to say, it was very slow…Needed about 6 hrs a day to filter the pool and the filtercartridge had to be changed every other day. Rather than spend money to upgrade, I decided to utilize this pump and replace when it wore out.

Well, I should have bought the upgrade long ago. My original 1500 gph pump finally died, so I purchased the 2500 gph one. The improvement was noticed immediately. You can actually SEE the water circulating! The suction is superb, which made vacuuming a breeze!

Plus, I only need to run the filter about 3 hrs a day and the filter cartridge lasts at least 2 weeks. This pump takes the larger, size “B” cartridges, which are more expensive than the smaller, size “A” ones that came with the original 1500 gph pump. Most stores in my area sell them for about $15-20 each. However, I found twin packs at WalMart for $20! More powerful pump = less filter cartridge changes = more economical in the long run.

Another improvement with this pump is the outtake screen has a directional nozzle to circulate the water. The original just had a screen and there was no force.

The main thing people need to realize is that filter pumps do NOT clean your pool. You still need to vacuum regularly; maintain proper chlorine, Ph balance and use an algaeside as recommended for your pool. The filter pump helps to keep the water circulating, which helps keep the water from getting stagnant, which helps eliminate problems. With proper maintance, your pool water will stay clean and safe, all season long.

I initially thought about going to the 4000 gph pump and I’m glad I did NOT. The suction with the 2500 gph pump is powerful enough for my size pool. I think the 4000 gph would be too strong and more suited for the larger, 24ft + pools.

The pump do NOT come with a skimmer. If you do not have a skimmer, make sure you order one of those because you really need it to help you keep the pool clean.

If you have an 18 ft pool, the hoses and attachments that comes with this pump work just fine. If you have a 16 ft or smaller, you will need the hose adapters.

I absolutely love my pool and with this new filter pump, it will last for more years to come.

We purchased this Intex Pool Filter, and have been very happy with it. It does the job so much better than the one we had. With the kit pools, they send a smaller filter that works, but this one is more powerful and cleans much quicker. The company also calls to make sure you get exactly what you wanted-thats a plus too.

My Intek filter went bad the first summer after I bought the pool. Intek would not replace it. So, I purchased the 2500 Gallon filter — which is the next step up from the one that comes with the 18′x4′ pool. The original filter never seemed to work efficiently and, even with a foot rinse installed at the external base of our ladder, I still had to vaccuum once a week or more.

I absolutely love the 2500 gallon filter. It has great suction and an angled outlet which creates a gentle current in the pool, lifting up debris from the bottom. This filter cleans my pool in under 3 hours! I highly recommend this filter. I also encourage people to buy in July the filters they expect to use the rest of the season. If you wait much past July 31, getting filters at discount retailers is impossible and filters from pool stores are more than twice as expensive.

Pump works great. The 2500 gph cleans the pool in 1/2 the time as original pump.

After a few years, the smaller pump that came with my 18′ Intex metal framed pool stopped working. I was tired of cleaning these smaller filters most everyday I must say. I researched pumps and it was just a little more to upsize to this pump and it had a larger filter, so I ordered it.

Since I had the connector hoses and skimmer already hooked up, installation was a breeze. When I turned on the pump I was blown away with how much water this pump moved. It was almost too much water movement for my 18′ round pool, but I definitely will take too much power over not enough any day. Also, as is common with these paper filters they get clogged up with bugs, dirt, hair, suntan loition, etc, so the water flow will slow down.

When I used to clean my filter every day, now I just have to do it about 1 or twice a week and my filter has lasted a month now. This alone is worth the money in my opinion to upgrade to this pump. It is too bad that Intex doesn’t include this pump in their larger pools. One thing to keep in mind with this pump though is tnat it does not come with a skimmer and only a plastic screened cap for the intake.

All in all I highly recommend this 2500 GPH pump for those who are frustrated with the smaller pumps or as a replacement pump for an intex pool.

I bought an easy set 15 foot round 4 foot deep pool that came with a small 800gph pump. It worked, but I didn’t think it moved enough water to keep it clean. This pump is actually even more quiet than the 800gph. It cleans the whole pool so much better, and works very well with my saltwater system.

Some advice – buy some extra filters for it. The amount of dirt this thing collects in a week is just remarkable. Also, if you are buying this pump for an easy set 15 feet round or smaller (like me) you also HAVE to buy the hose adapters for a nice clean, water sealed connection.

This is a great pump but we have had a few problems trying to get it to work with a 16 foot pool.

We bought the adapters from intex…they are cheaper there….but the skimmer we had that came with the pool is too small to pump enough water through the pump. We also couldn’t use the strainers that come with the pump because of the smaller hole. I am going to order the Deluxe Skimmer and see if that will help..

      I will keep you posted….

I used this one to replace the model 51 (which I inadvertantly broke(don’t leave the skimmer hose disconnected – it will float to the top and catch air;)). This one installed easily and does a better job / stronger.
