Clean my pool filter
I have a Dirt Devil, Cantar pool pump and cartridge filter. The id# on the filter is CFR75DD. I basically have no clue how to clean it.
Last season I ended up losing a lot of water trying to get the filter out to clean it. I know there has to be a way to clean the filter without losing 25% of the water to the pool.
I did have it unplugged and shut off. I am really at a loss.

Pool Filter Cartridges

If the cartridge is a year old, you need to get a new one. When you spray down the filter with a water hose you can only clean the outside of the filter. The inside still stays dirty. The filter looks like this /\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/ and the inside of the fold holds the dirt. I need to replace my filter about every 9 months. My pool is open all year. You can check to see if all the valves are open. this will up the pressure. It is normal for the pressure to go up with any pool cleaner, you are restricting the water flow with the cleaner.
Swimming pool filtration
I’m opening my pool and was wondering if it makes any difference if I close the main drain and allow the skimmer to do all of the work, meaning all the filtration is going through the skimmer? It’s been running for 3 days straight only running through the skimmer, and the pressure is lower than normal, and it seems to be clearing up faster this way. any thoughts?
